2003 Payroll Consultant of the Year
Colleen Dryden, Empower Masterpay

Colleen ‘retired’ from her work as a consultant with Empower Masterpay at age 65, but because of her dedication, she remained on board with one client – David Jones. Officially she worked 2 days per weeks, but here is what Chris Derrick, the Payroll Manager of David Jones says about Colleen.

"I have been the Payroll Manager of David Jones for 3 years now, and over this I have come to appreciate the unique qualities that Colleen possesses. I have never met a person so focused on her job. There is nothing we can request that Colleen does not deliver – it often seems that Colleen has the interests of David Jones at heart over the interests of her employer.

In case you are wondering, Colleen ‘works’ 2 days per week following her retirement from full time work. Outside of these 2 days, Colleen is available to help David Jones as we request – and will always answer the phone when we call. I have often sent her an email requesting some sort of file or change to the payroll, expecting it to be actioned the following Monday or Tuesday (her ‘working days’). 99% of the time I will have what I asked for on my desk by the next day – regardless of whether Colleen was ‘working’ or not.

Colleen is a consultant I admire. I look to her as a role model and example of how I should relate to clients and respond to their needs and wants. I know there is nothing Colleen would not do for us as a client.

Colleen is an example to her peers and a credit to her company."
